Martie Krol is an ASHA certified Speech-Language Pathologist, Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), published author of children’s book Taylor Tate and the Great Escape, and co-founder of OutGrow Therapeutics. Martie has been working with children and their families for over twelve years in a variety of settings and in collaboration with diverse professionals. Her mission is to merge her knowledge of language development, principles of behavior, and sensory and emotional regulation, to educate and empower parents and/or caregivers to identify learning differences, encourage language development, and provide behavior intervention solutions.

Martie was born in Rockland County, NY and has been living in Houston, TX since 2017. While in New York, Martie worked in public school systems, special education preschools, and in home-care. After her move to Texas, Martie worked in a private setting in the greater Houston area, providing direct speech services, supervising Speech-Language Pathology Assistants, and providing behavior consultations to parents.  Martie’s educational background makes her an ideal match for children with communication needs, learning differences due to sensory processing difficulties, and challenging behaviors.

Martie was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in August 2021 and took time off to focus on her health.  During this time, she and Megan took continuing education credits and certification courses focusing on brain development, sensory integration, and emotional regulation.  They engaged with the Neurodiverse Community to learn about their preferences and personal experiences, in order to better serve Neurodiverse patients and families.  This wealth of information, combined with prior experience, is what inspired Martie and Megan to start OutGrow Therapeutics.

Megan Dore

C O - F O U N D E R , O U T G R O W T H E R A P E U T I C S

Megan graduated from Suffolk University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Developmental Psychology and continued to New England Institute to study in their Occupational Therapy Assistant program. This education provided Megan with a unique understanding of the brain body connection. Megan spent 12 years working as a nanny which gave her deep insights and a unique outlook on the dynamic of families. An avid work traveler, Megan is fascinated by cultural competency, diversity, and alternative therapeutic approaches.

While attending the Occupational Therapy Assistant program, Megan had her first child, which created a whole new understanding of how behavioral, sensory, and emotional regulation impacts every-day life for both children and parents. It wasn’t until her second child that she learned a deeper understanding of how children self-regulate.

Megan began her occupational therapy career working with pediatrics in school, home, and clinic settings in Massachusetts and Houston, prior to moving to Florida. She is passionate about using sensory based therapeutic interventions for children while helping their families understand how creative interventions can help to explore emotions and build rapport. Megan is experienced and specialized in working with neurodiverse children, specifically ASD and ADHD. Her expertise with children on a multi-spectrum of sensory and behavioral personalities has helped her to become a well-rounded clinician. Being a parent supported her depth and ability to understand the challenges and strengths of children and their families from both a parental and clinician’s perspective.

Play is the foundation of Megan’s therapy technique and she believes that everyone should be able to find meaningful play to support them in any stage of life. When not working with clients, she’s most likely spending time with her family, traveling, and learning from other neurodiverse affirming therapists. Megan is most passionate about using creative solutions to encourage and teach parents how to better understand and communicate with their children.
